There are competent and qualified teachers in the department. The department offers special English Course at Graduate level and entire English course at Post-Graduate level. In addition to that, the department is conducting career oriented certificate course in functional English.

2.DEPARTMENT OF MARATHI

Faculty Profile- Adequacy and competency of faculty :

 

The department has adequate, qualified, experienced and competent faculty of which two are Ph. D., one is M. Phil. and two are NET/SET qualified. Two teachers are recognised research guides with 13 research students working under their supervision and 14 research students who have completed their research theses. One of the faculty member was NSS Programme Officer.

The department has the following learning resources :

  • Central Library: 24691 books and 41 periodicals and journals.
  • Departmental Library: 175 books.
  • One computer with internet facility.
  • A shared digital language laboratory with 30 work stations.
  • Study material and e-resources.

Participation/Contribution of teachers to the academic activities including teaching, consultancy and research. :

The faculty members participate in various conferences, workshops and seminars. As far as research is concerned the faculty has guided 9 research scholars till date. One faculty is actively associated with Balbharati and Marathi Sahitya Parishad.

3.DEPARTMENT OF HINDI

There are four faculty members in the department of which one is Ph. D. and three are NET/SET qualified.

Participation/Contribution of teachers to the academic activities including teaching, consultancy and research. :

One of the faculty members is pursuing M. Phil. The department provides assistance to other departments for propagation of Hindi. A faculty member has authored two books and, in all, three research papers have been published. A faculty member is working as the coordinator of the Faculty of Arts.


4.DEPARTMENT OF SANSKRIT

Faculty Profile- Adequacy and competency of faculty :
The department has two teachers of which one is NET qualified. Prof. Bhagyashri Balwatkar is NSS Programme Officer.

  • The department has the following learning resources :
  • Central Library: 2148 books and 03 journals
  • Departmental Library: 78 books

The faculty of the department organizes training for the school children. One faculty member has registered for Ph.D. and has attended conferences and seminars.

5.DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY

The Department is adequately manned with 4 faculty members. Out of the total faculty members, 2 are Ph.D. and 2 are NET & SET qualified. One faculty member is recognized as Research Guide by North Maharashtra University. One faculty member was invited for conference in Netherland. One of the faculty member was NSS Programme Officer.

One member of the faculty is recognized as research guide for Ph.D. and M.Phil. degrees of North Maharashtra University.Four faculty members have participated in National & International conferences, seminars and workshops.Faculty members of the department engaged a `Modi-Lipi’ coaching classes. Faculty members are engaged in guidance for competitive examinations.Faculty members also engaged in NET/SET guidance classes .

6.DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE

There are Four faculty members in the department. Out of them, one is M.Phil., Three are NET qualified. One of the faculty member is NSS Programme Officer. One of the faculty member was awarded with ‘Best Programme Officer Award’.

7.DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

The Department is manned with 7 faculty members, which is adequate. Out of the total faculty members, 4 are Ph.D., 1 is M.Phil. and 1 is NET & SET qualified. Two faculty members are recognized as Research Guide by North Maharashtra University.One faculty members has an honor to be chairman of the Board of Studies in Economics, member faculty and academic council of North Maharashtra University.One faculty member is working as executive council member of Marathi Arthashastra Parishad.Ex faculty member of department act as Secretary, Treasurer and Executive President of Marathi Arthashastra Parishad.

9.DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE AND STRATEGIC STUDIES

10.DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY

11.DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION & JOURNALISM

 

The communication and media sector in India has grown several folds in the last two decades and is projected to continue growing in the coming decades. On one hand, the industry has witnessed a virtual explosion in the process of creation and consumption of information and communication and, on the other hand there an upsurge in the demand for knowledge and professional skills to face the challenges and the opportunities brought about by the trans formative force of communication revolution. While new areas, such as the internet, multi-media, on-line Journalism, 3D graphics and animation have emerged in the field, traditional areas such as print journalism and magazine publication, radio, television, films, animation, advertising, public relations, event management and communication research continue to hold ground and offer exciting careers in Communication. The Department of Mass Communication & Journalism at M. J. College is a response to these challenges and provides a flexible academic program to study the emerging disciplines and train students for the many exciting professional careers emerging with the convergence of technologies and communication processes.
The Department of Mass Communication & Journalism, established in 1997, is one of the oldest Departments in North Maharashtra University. M J College was the foremost College in Maharashtra to start Journalism Course in the College under Arts Faculty during its inception years. The Department has started the one year full-fledged post graduate Bachelor’s Degree Course (BCJ) in 1997. The Masters Degree in Journalism & Mass Communication (MCJ) was started in 1998. The Department offers a 2-year Master’s Programme in Mass Communication & Journalism (Semester Pattern) for students interested in any of the following areas: Journalism, social and development communication, Advertising, Public relations, Radio, Television, Multi-media, Media management and Research. The Programme curriculum is wide-ranging and interdisciplinary and carefully balances theoretical and practical information. The curriculum will familiarize students with MCJ concepts both in theory and practice; introduce them to various streams of the MCJ discipline; provide hands-on experience on all relevant skill areas and; allow students to specialize in an area for entry-level jobs in communication and media sector. As a part of its professional emphasis, the programme will provide an opportunity to students to gain practical work experience through its internship placements in relevant organization, interact with the leading professionals of the media and communication sector and assist students in finding suitable placements and self-employment opportunities.
Currently, the College is in the process of building its audio – video studios on the campus. State-of-the-art facilities and a faculty that balances academic and professional competence will complement the Master’s Program.

Semester System: One academic year will have two semesters; the First semester starts in July and the second semester in January. Each course is for the duration of one semester with a specific number of credits. Conduct of semester Examination: The students shall be evaluated in the Courses through the following examination.(a) First Pre final Examination (b) Second Prefinal Examination (c) Semester final examination.

12.DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY

14.DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC

15.DEPARTMENT OF YOGIC SCIENCE

The department has been recently established in 2009 with the help of ViViDhaTa. It has taken initiation to offer formal academic program in Yogic Science. There are adequate, qualified and experienced faculty in the department.

16.DEPARTMENT OF FINE ARTS

There are 05 faculty members in the department. All are proficient artists in their respective fields.

The department is equipped with 10 computers with Internet facility, Projector, Studio, Photography, Still life, Life Study Model, Dunky, Eizel, Drawing Boards, Painting Display Boards, Sculpture etc.
