1.DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY

About the Department Department of Biochemistry, Moolji Jaitha College, Jalgaon, is one of the dynamic departments of the college. Department has full fledged under-graduate and post-graduate courses with specialization in Biochemistry. Faculties of the department are experienced with highest qualification like Ph.D. and CSIR-NET. Work culture of the department is application based and research oriented. Department has successfully implemented student research projects, M.Sc. dissertations and minor research projects. Teacher-student relationship of the department is very healthy and friendly with firm teacher-student bonding. Students freely discuss their academic as well as personal problems with teachers and teachers also counsel at their best. Academic counseling is done in group as well as at individual level

2.DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY

Faculty Profile- Adequacy and competency of faculty :

The department has adequate, highly qualified, experienced and competent faculty. One faculty has Ph. D. as highest qualification while 3 are pursuing Ph.D.Learning resources of the department – library, computers, laboratories and other resources :

The department has well established two laboratories with equipments like Spectrophotometer, Electrophoresis, incubator, rotary shaker etc. Advanced instruments viz. UV- Spectrophotometer, GC, HPLC, FTIR, GEL Doc System is Evaluative Report of the Departments housed in the Central Instrumentation Laboratory. Departmental library comprises 89 reference books. The department has a facility of 3 computers with internet and laptop and printer

3.DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY

The department offers a degree programme leading to the award of the Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Botany. The department educates the students in order to provide them with new knowledge and skills in different disciplines of Plant Sciences.
The department has adequate, highly qualified, experienced and competent faculty out of which four are Ph. D., one is NET qualified and three are registered for Ph.D. Presently one teacher is recognised as research guide and seven research students are registered for Ph.D. So far, ten research students have completed their research theses. Two teachers have worked as members of Board of Studies in Botany, one was member of Academic Council and one is the member of Management Council of North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. The department is recognized as a Post Graduate Research Center by North Maharashtra University. One faculty member of the department has worked as NSS Programme Officer.

The department runs courses such as M.Sc(Computer Science) M.Sc(information Technology) , B.Sc(Computer Science, B.Sc(information Technology). Apart from the said regular courses affiliated to North Maharashtra University Jalgaon. The department also runs various certificate, diploma and Postgraduate courses through a virtual classroom under distance education programme administered by Kanwal Reikhi School of Information Technology and continuing education programme of Indian Institute of Technology –Powai, Mumbai and virtual classroom of YCMOU Nasik.Apart from imparting instruction to the students belonging to various streams the department also organizes training programmes for teaching and non teaching staff of college.
The department encourages students to participate in the various research activities through the programmes like budding researchers scheme under CPE. Because of the consistent and tireless efforts of the department most of our students have made their way to University Merit Lists.
The department has an excellent infra structure with twelve high profile laboratories and also runs and maintains all the computing and connectivity facilities on the campus.
The department has to its credit numerous alumni working as professionals in reputed software industries as well as in the field of academics. One teacher is recognised as a research guide with one research student 3 research students have completed their research theses. The departmental library comprises nearly 434 titles which consist of text books, reference books along with books for competitive examinations. Department has four computers with internet connectivity, one laptop and one LCD projector. The department has six well equipped laboratories with all the necessary facilities and adequate number of equipments to carry out regular practical, projects and research works. 6.DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT SCIENCE

Department of Environmental Sciences was established in 2005 affiliated to North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. The Department was started with a single course at UG level and an innovative Programme Post Graduate Diploma in Solid Waste Management granted by UGC. Moolji Jaitha College is the first college in North Maharashtra region to begin with M.Sc in Environmental Sciences. So far, 5 batches have completed their B.Sc and 3 batches have completed their M.Sc. courses from the department.Academic Programs:

Faculty Profile- Adequacy and competency of faculty :The department has adequate, highly qualified, experienced and competent faculty of which one is Ph. D. and three are M. Phil.Learning resources of the department – library, computers, laboratories and other resources :
The departmental library compromises of about 300 books of various branches of Electronics and physics. Department has 4 computers, 1 laptop, 1 printer, 1 LCD projector and internet facility. The laboratories are well equipped to provide practical skill to the students. Students have access to sophisticated instruments such as Microcontroller kits , VHDL kit, Microcontroller programmer, storage digital oscilloscope, Temp and humidity chamber , Charts and Equipments, Software’s like Dip-trace, Matlab ,works origin, auto Trax , 5 spice, etc. Department has started developing e-library by downloading free e-books available online.

8.DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY

The department offers a degree programme leading to the award of the Bachelor of Science, (B.Sc), Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Master of Arts (M.A.), Master of Science (M.Sc) and Doctor of Philosophy in Geography. The department educates the students in order to provide them with new knowledge of Geographical Information System (GIS), Remote Sensing (R.S.), Global Positioning System (G.P.S.), and skills in different disciplines of Geography.
Department of Geography is one of the pioneer and oldest department in Khandesh region was established in 1960.
There are eight faculty members amongst these six are grantable and two are non-grantable. In the Departmental library there are 94 books and 75 copies of various research journals. Department has Well equipped laboratory having 22 computers with internet connectivity and GIS Software like AutoCAD, Arc GIS, ILWIS, and GPS Trip Way. Recently Department has started Certificate Course in Geoinformatics in Collaboration with JalaSRI, which provides Basic Knowledge of GIS and Its Software to the students.
In our Department Dr. A. S. Bhole, Dr. R. R. Bhalsing, Dr.Mrs. P. P. Jangle are working as research guides for M. Phil and Ph.D, Students in NMU as well as in other universities also. To develop research attitude in M.A/M.Sc. Students who are working under C.P.E. scheme as a research scholar.
Our faculty members are working in field of Geomorphology, population Geography, Agricultural Geography. Seven MRP’s are completed by Dr. A. S. Bhole, Dr. R. R. Bhalsing, Dr. P. P. Jangle, Prof. S. N. Bharambe, Prof.Mrs. S. A. Chaudhari.  9.DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY

The department educates students to work and understand the history of our planet. The department offers a degree program leading to the award of the Bachelor of Science.
As a result of the capacity building and collaborative efforts with Pennsylvania State University, USA and ICRISAT, Hyderabad through JalaSRI – the Department of Geology was established in 2009.There are two faculty members in the Department of Geology. One of them has qualified Geologist examination conducted by UPSC.
There are 30 books in the departmental library and 188 books in central library. Different sample rocks and samples of minerals are available in the department along with petrological microscope, wooden crystal models and toposheets. One high Evaluative Report of the Departments configuration server and personal computers are provided to students with printer. There is one LCD projector and screen in the department

10.DEPARTMENT OF GEOINFORMATICS

Department of Geoinformatics is the science of measuring, storing, organizing, analyzing and visualizing data related to phenomena occurring on or near the earth’s surface. Geoinformatics is an interdisciplinary concept from the next generation technologies like GPS and Remote Sensing, advanced information system like Geographic Information System (GIS). Department of Geoinformatics is established in June 2009. The department is the youngest and the modern department of science faculty. Department of Geoinformatics offers uniquely designed bachelor’s degree program in Geoinformatics. Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1945. It is a renowned department for excellence in teaching as well as research and produced many brilliant and successful students . Many renowned teachers have worked as faculty members in the department and brought name and fame to the department.
The department is offering F.Y.B.Sc and S.Y.B.Sc. Courses right from 1945 and started T.Y.B.Sc. Program is 1969. M.Sc was introduced in the year 1980 under Pune University affiliation. It was the first department to start M.Sc. course in Mathematics outside Pune University Campus.

12.DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY

This department is Established in 1994, the Department of Microbiology has well equipped separate undergraduate and post graduate laboratories. The basic facilities are supported by excellent research infrastructure such Central Instrument Laboratory, Research Laboratory, Plant tissue culture laboratory and Animal house. These laboratories are well equipped with advanced and sophisticated instruments. The department is continuously engaged in research along with ICT supported regular teaching activities. The department also provides facility of departmental library with more than 200 books. Department has strong alumni network which support placement of students. Recently consultancy activities are initiated to extent the expertise for industries. Department also continuously organizes the National conference ‘AMBI’ and state level poster competitions ‘BIOINNOVO’ to inculcate research and competitive culture amongst the faculty and students. The central library contains near about 1300 books of Statistics and one journal “Sankhya”. There are 25 computers in the computer laboratory on sharing basis with Geography. The department is enriched with statistical software SPSS, SYSTAT and MINITAB for teaching as well as research purpose. The department has two desktop computers, one laptop and one printer to carry out other activities. The department has adequate numbers of electronic calculators.
